HISTORY

Br. Jaime M. Dalumpines, FSC Library (formerly the Grade School Library) of La Salle College Antipolo is a center of learning and information East of Laguna Lake. In 2003, the school’s libraries were divided into three: Grade School, High School and College Libraries. In that same year, licensed librarians were hired and started to reorganize the library collection.

Br. Jaime M. Dalumpines, FSC Library (Grade School Library) housed its collection of books in one of the classrooms located at the Nuestra Señora Dela Paz Hall. In the year 2003, only about twenty students out of four hundred seventy six can be accommodated by the library at a time but it was frequented by the growing number of library users from Kindergarten to Grade Six because of the newly acquired books. In June 2004, the classroom library was equipped with air-conditioning units but the seating capacity was not enough for the student population.

In May 2005, a new library was built through the initiative of Br. Jaime M. Dalumpines, FSC. The library became the hub for reading of the grade school students around the campus. The new library was equipped, air-conditioned and had fully furnished book shelves, customized library tables and chairs and glass doors and windows. The library collection continued to increase and computers were installed for internet research.

Br. Jaime M. Dalumpines, FSC, developed the use of the library among the members of the community from the administrators, academic coordinators, faculty, staff and most especially the students. He is an educator, reader, storyteller and sometimes a librarian as well. He loved books and labored to provide quality education through the use of library. He brought multifarious contributions as president of La Salle College Antipolo, 2003-2006.

He made enormous physical progress, developed the largest book-holdings in the province of Rizal, revised the curriculum, upgraded employees compensation, planted the campus greenery among others.

On April 8, 2006, with heartfelt appreciation, Br. Felipe C. Belleza, FSC, Chairman, Board of Trustees dedicated the Grade School Library as repository of human knowledge to Br. Jaime M. Dalumpines, FSC and it was named Br. Jaime M. Dalumpines, FSC Library.
